IFS European Youth ProgrammeA Celebration of Youth and Diversity in Contemporary EuropeEdinburgh 19th to 26th November 2006This conference, taking place in Edinburgh, concludes our three year project of training, exchanges and seminars that have taken place throughout Europe and Russia. In previous exchanges and training seminars participants have had the opportunity to meet youth from different countries and cultures, exchange and develop ideas, and increase their awareness of diversity within Europe. In November we will build on this achievement by offering a combination of workshops, seminars and creative performances involving young people from throughout Europe. We expect up to 65 young people from throughout Europe and Russia to attend for what will be an inspirational week!See below for more information Location & DatesThe conference is taking place in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. Workshops will be spread out over several locations in central Edinburgh. All will be within walking distance of the hostel.Arrival Date: 19 November, 2006 Departure Date: 26 November, 2006 Hosting organisation and programmeThe training session is hosted by the Edinburgh University Settlement (http://www.sett.ed.ac.uk/) and organized by IFS Europe in Edinburgh.WorkshopsWe will have two main workshop series running in the morning through out the week. Within each there will be groups of 10-15 participants covering specific subjects and activities. Each workshop will work towards a real event to take place at the end of the week, allowing each participant to develop new skills that they can use in future projects in their own communities. In the Project Management workshop we will exchange ideas on fundraising, networking, promoting projects, and working with the press. Our goal will be to promote a key conference event at the end of the session. In our Arts Workshop we will be using music, theatre, video and visual arts to break barriers and create new communities. The arts workshop will work to creating a video diary of the event, a gallery exhibition, and a performance in the final evening. We also invite your organization to propose to run a workshop or presentation, which can be offered to 15 or 20 people during one afternoon during the week. Travel costsAs with previous events, IFS-Europe will be able to reimburse 50% of the participantŐs costs for travel from their home country to Edinburgh (by cheapest means of transport and fares and provided that receipts, boarding card, etc. are submitted to the organizer.)There are many inexpensive flights to Edinburgh airport from Europe (KLM, British Airways discount flights, easyjet, and others) It is also possible to fly to Glasgow (Prestwick airport) and take the train through to Edinburgh (Ryan air flies to Prestwick).
